The Euro-Mediterranean Institute for Quality and Safety in Health Services took the initiative to create the National Patient Safety Network and invite you to co-sign the relevant Founding Declaration as a key contributor\/stakeholder of the health services provided in the country. The creation of a Patient Safety Network constitutes, according to the Global Patient Safety Action Plan (2021-2030) of the WHO, an obligation of ALL its member countries in order to effectively harmonize them with the foreseen interventions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

A central vision for the establishment of the Network is to protect the safety of those served by health services and to upgrade services to a level of operation where patients and beneficiaries of health care are free from unsafe events and harm.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In June 2019, in the Health Policy project “Improving healthcare quality in Europe Characteristics, effectiveness and implementation of different strategies”, which was prepared for WHO and OECD with the assistance of the European Observatory in Health Systems and Policies, the Security of the beneficiaries of of Health Systems is defined as a key parameter and requirement in the context of a broader strategy to upgrade the level of health services. According to the Declaration of the OECD, WHO and the World Bank, which was published in 2018 under the title ‘Providing quality health services – A global imperative to ensure universal coverage of health needs”, the adoption of a National Strategy for safer patient-centered care through services based on real value for both the citizen and the Health System. Among other vital interventions for the reform of Health Systems are the implementation of patient participation policies in decisions about their care and the assistance of all interested parties in matters of safety of the services provided.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Euro-Mediterranean Institute for Quality and Safety in Health Services, Avedis Donabedian and its members, serving the goals of sustainable development in the Health Sector (Sustainable Development Goals) and the achievement of universal health coverage (UHC), envisage to be the bodies of formation and transmission of know-how to improve the ‘value’ and ‘quality’ of health services at the level of therapeutic effect, safety, management performance both at the individual and collective level.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The primary purpose of the Euro-Mediterranean Institute is to promote, highlight and apply modern methodologies and tools to ensure and continuously promote and improve quality and safety in health care through the knowledge dissemination and advisory support services it provides.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Euro-Mediterranean Institute aims to be the driving force behind the initiation and support of planning, implementation and monitoring of modern health policies and programs at the national, regional and local level by ensuring their harmonization with the principles and strategies of international organizations, such as the World Health Organization , the European Commission, the OECD, the International and European Center for Infection Control and the Scientific Associations of the Health Sector.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The following document sets out the aims, vision and mission of the National Patient\/Beneficiary Safety Network as well as the outline of the operating principles and has been published for Public Consultation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
