World Patient Safety Day was established in 2019 by the 72nd World Health Assembly through the adoption of resolution WHA72.6, and its main objective is to promote, at a global level, actions to prevent and reduce risks for patients in the provision of healthcare care.
The theme chosen by the World Health Organization for 2023 is “Empowering patients for patient safety”, in recognition of the critical role that patients themselves and their families and carers play in the safety of health care.
The Euro-Mediterranean Institute for Quality and Safety in Health Services as a member of the Global Patient Safety Network, participating in the initiatives of the World Health Organization to celebrate World Patient Safety Day, organized an online Delphi survey.
The aim was to collect opinions and proposals from representatives of important stakeholders of the Health System, academics, health professionals and also representatives of associations/associations of patients, regarding the implementation of effective practices for the empowerment of patients and their caregivers as well as the investigating the factors influencing their attitude.
We would like to sincerely thank all agencies, organizations and health professionals for their participation.
