Mrs Anna Tsekoura is a Health Emergency Management and Civil Protection Expert. She holds a Bachelor in Sociology from Athens Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences where she graduated with honors (2000) and is a National School of Public Administration distinguished graduate, where she received a Postgraduate Specialization in Health Care Management in 2003. Additionally she holds a master’s degree (MSc) in Crisis and Emergency Management from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens-School of Health Sciences (2018).

Currently she holds a position as an Executive Administrative Officer at the Hellenic Ministry of Health and has more than 15 years of working experience and specialization in the field of Health Security working at  the Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry and the Public Health Protection Sector with substantial involvement in crisis and emergency management, as an operational planning, preparedness and response experts team member  (indicatively: the Olympic Games “Athens 2004” health care coverage scheme, the “HELIOS” plane crash, the Mega Forest Fires of Ilia Prefecture, the evacuation of “Agios Andreas” Patras Hospital, the avian influenza (H5N1), the influenza pandemic (H1N1), the recurrence of malaria and West Nile virus cases, the Ebola virus crisis, the Kefalonia earthquake etc.) but also as a Special Scientific Advisor to promote cooperation and interoperability with International, European and National Organizations, Agencies and competent Bodies (indicatively: WHO, European Commission, Health Security Committee, ECDC, IOM, BSEC Organization, Civil Protection, Fire Service, Hellenic Police, Emergency Ambulance Services, National Organization of Public Health etc.)

She is also a Certified Adult Trainer included at both National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Teaching Personnel Registry, while she has been:

  • Scientific Head Officer and Trainer of the Special Training Public Health Programs for Health Professionals organized by the General Secretariat for Public Health in collaboration with the World Health Organization (2016-17)
  • Teaching Personnel at the Public Servants Training Institute (INEP) of the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (2016)
  • Teaching Personnel at the Hellenic Fire Service Education and Further Training School of Officers , Fire Service Academy  (22nd Educational Cluster, 2015-16)
  • Permanent Trainer of the National Health Operations Center (EKEPY) – Ministry of Health, emergency preparedness and response training programs (2012-2015)

She has received specialized training from well distinguished  National, European and International Organizations and institutions on thematics like civil protection, public health emergency management, critical infrastructure protection, crisis communication management and has extensive experience in designing and implementing operational training at both  European and National level by participating at a broad variety of preparedness and response simulation exercises either as Training Staff or as Exercise Planning Team member or as the Head Coordinator (indicatively: Quicksilver Plus, Quicksilver, Major Accident Exercise I & II, Charilaos Trikoupis, Aviation Accident Exercise,  Achilles heel etc).

Since 2018 she has been a Scientific Associate at the Center for Security Studies (KEMEA) of the Ministry of Civil Protection as Health Emergency Management and Health Security expert and as of June 2020 has been accepted to WHO EOC- NET (World Health Organization Emergency Operations Centers Network) of the World Health Organization under the Individual Expert Membership capacity.
