Healthcare workers are at high risk of violence all over the world. Violence against healthcare workers strongly increased during the COVID19 pandemic, and this trend seems to continue.

Violence against HCWs is not adequately recognised as a political issue and a public health crisis. A trans-sectoral and multi-professional governance approach may help better understand the different forms of violence and the factors that worsen the attacks.
